This policy explains what information SCADA Miner (“SCADA Miner”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our website, chat product, and MCP connector at chat.scadaminer.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. SCADA Miner answers natural-language questions about Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM) using public market data published by AEMO.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in we receive your name, email address, and organization membership from our authentication provider (WorkOS). We do not see or store your password.
- Your content. The questions you ask, the conversations they belong to, the SQL generated to answer them, and the query results returned to you. The same applies to questions sent through the MCP connector (including from Claude or other MCP clients), which we record as a tool-call trace so the service can be operated and audited.
- Usage and billing. Usage and credit events that let us meter the service and apply your plan. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card details.
- Technical data. Standard server logs such as IP address, request timestamps, and error diagnostics, used to operate and secure the service.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site: the pages viewed, how you arrived (such as the referring site or a campaign link), and your device, browser and approximate location. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this. When you create an account we also record with it the page you first landed on, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags on that link, so we can tell which pages bring people to SCADA Miner.
The market data we query
SCADA Miner queries a data warehouse built from publicly available AEMO / NEM market data (prices, generation, interconnector flows, constraints, and similar). This warehouse contains market data, not your personal information, and all queries we generate on your behalf are read-only.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: understand your question, generate read-only SQL, run it against the warehouse, and return answers and charts.
- To authenticate you and maintain your account and conversation history.
- To meter usage, apply credits, and process billing.
- To monitor, debug, secure, and improve the service.
AI processing
To turn a question into a query, the text of your question (and relevant conversation context) is sent to a third-party large language model (LLM) provider that we use to generate SQL. This processing is transient and for the purpose of answering your question. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train publicly available models.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run SCADA Miner, under their respective terms:
- WorkOS — authentication and identity.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscriptions.
- LLM provider(s) — converting your question into SQL.
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Hosting / infrastructure provider — running our servers and databases.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of SCADA Miner and its users.
Data retention
We keep account, conversation, and usage data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account and associated content (see “Your rights”).
Security
Access to the warehouse is read-only and scoped, traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to application data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable technical and organizational measures.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. Depending on your location, additional rights may apply under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR, or the CCPA.
International users
SCADA Miner is operated from, and stores data on, servers that may be located outside your country. By using the service you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.
Children
SCADA Miner is not directed to children and is intended for use by people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be communicated through the service.
